I became a professional photographer
in 1984 opening a studio in North Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Choosing to specialize in portrait photography, I began my career in
portrait and wedding photography. This path has led me to many great
adventures and the opportunity to study and learn with some of the worlds
best photographers. Around the turn of the century (makes it sound like a long time ago) I packed up the analog camera and took the plunge into digital photography. This has been my medium of choice ever since. “Analog photography is a great medium to hone your photography technique and lighting skills, there are no previews, there is no second chance. To know that you have the shot, your technique must be bang on. But it can be restrictive, your session can loose its flow and with it, your clients interest. Digital photography gives me the tools to work more freely with my subject. By combining the best of traditional photography with the magic of digital photography, I have been able to create a look and feel to my photography that is completely my own.” I am always looking for the ever elusive “perfect image”. After almost two and a half decades behind the camera, I continue to study and grow my skills as a portrait photographer. I am always been open to sharing my knowledge and experiences with other photographers and you can follow me through my blog, www.lengrinke.blogspot.com and on my Facebook page, Len Grinke Photography. And by teaching at a local college, running independent workshops, and working with Capturing True Emotions, I want to help insure that the art of photography will continue to grow, and be available as a medium of expression for future generations. In the constantly changing world of digital imaging it is important to be on the edge of change. The combination of constant study, practice, and teaching keeps me on that edge. It is from that place that I have become a sought after portrait photographer and educator. My clients and students can be sure that they will always be getting the very best that can be offered.
